Thanks for the follow-up and the WTG guide was great!
However I do want to run Zorin and Win10 simultaneously, and allow Win10 LAN access but block Internet access, so I guess I’ll have to go with a VM.

Creating a WTG flash drive is the perfect solution for what you want. Linux installed on the system drive, and a bootable WTG USB flash drive will have Windows always on hand to access whenever required. With the added bonus that it can be moved from PC to PC.

Anyway, a VM will certainly do the job for you. Either way, all good.

Thanks Jim, I wasn’t aware of WTG!
But the reason I’m thinking of a Win10 VM is so I can run my Must Have software as needed while using Linux for everything else.

Hey Hal,

Glad to hear you’re alive and well. 🙂

With regards to running both Linux and Windows (for that must have software). Have a think about creating a “Windows To Go” bootable flash drive:

It’s a great way to always have Windows on hand without the concerns re playing nice with Linux.

I took the 1yr extension on my Win10 and plan to build a new system with Zorin as the OS. I’ll run my Win10 in a VM so I can continue to use my copy of Office Pro, Adobe products, and some specialist photography applications if I can’t get them to run with Wine.

It’s happening , albeit slowly but it is happening. Microsoft will lead the way to it’s own demise sooner or later.

Windows with their “pay for my software” versus Linux not asking for anything other than donation unless Ubuntu Pro which I don’t “really” need and it’s truly an Enterprise thing, anyway.
And since you wrote an article on CachyOS, some devs are using that very operating system to optimize for gaming, VRAM is really a cumbersome problem with modern games. Just more uplifting news about Linux.
