Now I&#8217;m going to show you how you can pin shortcuts to files\/folders on the Taskbar.<\/p>\n<p>There is no option in Windows 11 for pinning frequently accessed files and\/or folders to the Taskbar, but with a little creativity, it&#8217;s not all that difficult to do.<\/p>\n<p>In the following example, I&#8217;ll be working with a folder that I access frequently, where I save all my images and screenshots for articles, appropriately named &#8220;DCT&#8221;.<\/p>\n<h2>How To Pin Files\/Folders To Taskbar<\/h2>\n<p>First off, you need to create a desktop shortcut:<\/p><div id=\"daves-4263473830\" class=\"daves-single-post-in-content daves-entity-placement\" style=\"margin-bottom: 25px;\"><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-7205184075006101\" crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display:block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-7205184075006101\" \ndata-ad-slot=\"2700504761\" \ndata-ad-format=\"auto\" data-full-width-responsive=\"false\"><\/ins>\n<script> \n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); \n<\/script>\n<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>Right-click the file\/folder you want to pin and select <strong>Show more options<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Send to<\/strong> &gt;<strong> Desktop (create shortcut)<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Right-click the desktop shortcut, click <strong>Show more options<\/strong>, and then select<strong> Properties<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>In the Target field, you need to add &#8220;<em>explorer<\/em>&#8221; (minus the quotes) followed by a single space in front of the existing path<\/li>\n<li>So, in this case, it would look like this:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/davescomputertips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Edit-Target-Fireld.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-151829\" src=\"https:\/\/davescomputertips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Edit-Target-Fireld.png\" alt=\"edit-target-field\" width=\"401\" height=\"511\" srcset=\"https:\/\/davescomputertips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Edit-Target-Fireld.png 401w, https:\/\/davescomputertips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Edit-Target-Fireld-314x400.png 314w, https:\/\/davescomputertips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Edit-Target-Fireld-118x150.png 118w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 401px) 100vw, 401px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Click <strong>Apply<\/strong>, <strong>Ok<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Right-click the <a title=\"Create Desktop Shortcuts In Windows 10\" href=\"https:\/\/davescomputertips.com\/create-desktop-shortcuts-in-windows-10\/\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"254\">desktop shortcut<\/a>, click <strong>Show more options<\/strong>, and then select <strong>Pin to taskbar<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>You can now delete the desktop shortcut, if you want<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Bonus Tip<\/h2>\n<p>To help distinguish between the new shortcut and the existing <a title=\"How To Clear Recently Accessed Files\/Folders List\" href=\"https:\/\/davescomputertips.com\/how-to-clear-recently-accessed-files-folders-list\/\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"253\">File Explorer<\/a> shortcut, you can choose a different icon:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In the properties window, and before clicking Apply, OK, click the <strong>Change Icon<\/strong> button<\/li>\n<li>Highlight (click on) your preferred icon and now click <strong>Apply<\/strong>, <strong>OK<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/davescomputertips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/DCT-Shortcut.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-151830\" src=\"https:\/\/davescomputertips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/DCT-Shortcut.png\" alt=\"dct-shortcut\" width=\"546\" height=\"106\" srcset=\"https:\/\/davescomputertips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/DCT-Shortcut.png 546w, https:\/\/davescomputertips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/DCT-Shortcut-350x68.png 350w, https:\/\/davescomputertips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/DCT-Shortcut-150x29.png 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 546px) 100vw, 546px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>BOTTOM LINE<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>I am not a fan of Windows 11&#8217;s Start menu, but with a combination of Taskbar shortcuts for frequently accessed files, folders, websites, etc., plus desktop shortcuts for less frequently accessed items, I don&#8217;t even need to bother with the Start menu.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>You also might like: <a href=\"https:\/\/davescomputertips.com\/how-to-pin-websites-to-the-taskbar-any-browser\/\">How To Pin Websites To The Taskbar &#8211;
